Air cleaner plus

 With the Air cleaner, aerosols are massively reduced directly at the point of use.

Using the air cleaner creates a clean air zone that is largely free of germs, fine dust or other airborne microparticles.

The Air cleaner plus reduces the risk of infection for your staff and protects your products from fine dust contamination

  • Reducing the risk of infection of your staff
  • Reduction of production downtimes initiated by fine dust

Easy to use: plug and play

Even distribution of clean air: diffusion grille with vertical and horizontal guide slats that are individually adjustable. With an additional throttle element, consisting of an inclined aluminum slide box with an adjustable front flap. The deflection tongues of the slide ensure an even distribution of air over the grille surface.

In systems with a large air exchange rate, it is not always possible to ensure there is no draft in the occupied zone. The good regulating ability of the diffusion grilles with the individually adjustable air guide slats makes it possible to direct the primary air movement in such a way that drafts can be avoided in the main places where people are staying. The air guide slats can be changed using a DG slat adjustment key.

Mobile and robust: Stable wheels with brake function allow you to move the air cleaner easily and smoothly to the optimal location for you

Advantages for practice:

  • Plug and play
  • Whisper quiet operation <45db
  • Room air intake from below, clean air outlet from above
  • Filter saturation monitoring

particularities

► The air cleaners can be flexibly designed in terms of dimensions and can be adapted to individual customer needs for an additional charge.

Technology

► Monitoring of the flow velocity and automatic adjustment of the volume flow. This guarantees a constant volume flow even as the filter saturation increases.

► Filter contamination indicator: Alarm lights up when maximum filter saturation is reached. If the alarm light is displayed, the filter should be replaced in the coming weeks.

► Whisper-quiet operation 43 dB(A)
(currently the quietest fan on the market) The whisper-quiet high-performance fan is built on vibration dampers.

► No impact on personnel due to air flow.

► Individual dimensions

Avantage additional benefit

► When using the air cleaner, a large amount of air is circulated and thereby cleaned of airborne viruses and bacteria. This massively improves the air quality in the surrounding area.

Furnishing

Pre-filter

The ambient air is pre-filtered using an easily replaceable pre-filter of filter class F7. The pre-filter is designed for large volume flows and long filter service lives.

Fine filter

The particles are separated using a high-performance class H14 suspended matter filter. The separation efficiency of this filter is 99.995% according to EN 1822. The maintenance-friendly device design makes it easy and cost-effective to replace the filter directly at the installation site.

fan

The airflow is generated via high-performance fan modules with energy-saving motors. The wheels are finely balanced statically and dynamically. The compact module housings are made of aluminum sheet. Whisper-quiet operation 43 dB(A) at 0.20m/s

Air purification through filtering

Are Hepa filters too coarse?

The problem with filter-based cleaning devices, however, is that the virus itself is too small to be reliably captured. Hepa filters can capture particles up to 300 nanometers. However, the diameter of Sars-CoV-2 is only around 100 nameters.

The coronavirus on surfaces

  • The smallest particles remain in the air for a long time and can be easily inhaled, while larger particles settle on surfaces and are transmitted through passive infection (touch, inhalation).
  • The SARS CoV-2 virus appears to behave like other types of viruses and can remain active on surfaces for between a few hours and several days.
  • Viruses on surfaces can become detached again due to air turbulence or vibrations and form aerosols again.
  • Even in quiet environments, the stirring and settling can continue until the virus is inactivated. • The virus remains active on plastic surfaces for a particularly long time - usually 7 - 72 hours.
  • In closed rooms, the air should either be released directly into the environment or, in recirculated air mode, filtered via a highly efficient HEPA filter.

When filtering the air, serious devices use a HEPA filter. HEPA filters (HEPA = High Efficiency Particulate Air Filter) consist of a tangled web of filter fibers that are of different strengths and are chaotically woven together. This system allows even the smallest particles, bacteria, fine dust, mold spores and pollen to be filtered out of the air. The exact degree of separation differs between the different filter classes. Most air purifiers are equipped with HEPA H13, which can filter 99.95% of particles up to 300 nanometers in size from the air. In the EU, these filters are classified according to the “European Standard EN 1822-1:2009”. This is why many companies refer to their filters as “True HEPA filters” and add the degree of separation in percent.

Beware of dubious filter names from particularly clever marketing strategists! They refer to their filters, which do not belong to the tested HEPA category, as “HEPA-style”, “HEPA-type”, “HEPA-like” or – particularly cleverly – “99% HEPA” in order to make potential customers believe that it is a real, certified HEPA filter.

The process of particle separation in the filter generally takes place in four different ways:

 Source: Wikipedia

  • Barrier effect: Smaller particles that follow the air flow around the fiber stick if they get too close to the filter fiber.
  • Inertial effect: Larger particles do not follow the air flow (around the filter fiber), but instead collide with it due to their inertia and remain stuck.
  • Diffusion effect: Very small particles (< 1000 nm) do not follow the air flow, but due to their collisions with air molecules they have a trajectory similar to Brownian motion and thus collide with the filter fibers, where they stick.
  • Sieve effect: Filtering like a sieve, particles that are too large cannot find their way through the openings in the filter.

Over time, this reduces the effectiveness of the filter as its pores become clogged. Therefore, it should be ensured that the air purifier has a pre-filter, which improves the longevity of the HEPA filter.

What exactly does this mean for viruses and bacteria?

Most known types of bacteria have a size of 500 – 10,000 nm. In principle, these are completely filtered out of the air. Trapped in the filter, they cannot survive for long.

It's a little more difficult to say with viruses because they are significantly smaller (15 - 440 nm). These particles can actually slip through the filter (remember: 99.95% of particles up to 300 nm are captured) because they are small enough. However, do not forget about the diffusion effect described above. Parts smaller than 1000 nm (significantly larger than viruses) no longer follow the air flow strictly and therefore often get stuck on filter fibers. This means HEPA filters definitely reduce viruses in the air, including corona viruses! The corona virus has a size of 120 – 160 nm and therefore has a trajectory that is similar to Brownian motion.

But be careful, that sounds too good to be true, right? A little bit, because that also means that some of them can fly through the filter unhindered without being caught. Unfortunately, the corona virus is exactly the size where the HEPA filter is least effective. As can be seen from the graphic below, the filter “only” captures 90% of particles with a size of around 100 nm. But here is the crux of the matter: after all, almost 90% of corona viruses are caught!

Interception = blocking effect
Inertial (Impact) = inertial effect
Diffusion = diffusion effect
Sieving = sieving effect
